PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Holder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Hobbes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Douglas Holder has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Douglas Holder seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gilbert Hobbes!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hobbes gets the takedown into side control.
Holder really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hobbes creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Holder looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hobbes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hobbes has his foot on Holder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Holder works his way back into a safe position though.

Holder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Holder wants to get up but he can't break Hobbes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Holder feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Holder advances to half guard.
Holder tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hobbes controls his leg.
Holder drops an elbow to the side of Hobbes's head.
Holder content to control rather than advance.
Holder winds up and cracks Hobbes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
