Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Howard Raymond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Howard Raymond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Big Mac!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mac looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Raymond moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Raymond pushes Mac off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Mac shoots and misses
and Raymond counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mac shoots in for a takedown but Raymond shows good takedown defense.
Mac goes for a double leg but Raymond avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Raymond continues to drive forward.
Raymond throws a big counter combination but Mac scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Howard Raymond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Mac.
Nice sprawl there from Raymond as Mac shoots in.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Raymond.
Mac wants to counter the offense by Raymond and move into the clinch position.

Mac drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Raymond gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Raymond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mac is pulling down on Raymond's head. It's preventing any offense from Raymond, at least for the moment.

Raymond makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mac tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mac really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Raymond. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mac is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Raymond presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Mac is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Raymond is defending well.

Mac is looking to take this one to the mat.
Raymond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Raymond tries to pull guard but Mac forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Raymond has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mac uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mac scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mac chips away with some ground and pound.
Raymond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mac looking to sit in guard and control but Raymond gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mac holds on and takes a little breather.

Mac is looking to stand up but Raymond isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Howard Raymond will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mac shoots in for a takedown but Raymond shows good takedown defense.

Mac rushes Raymond and presses him up against the cage.

Mac has clasped his hands together around Raymond's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Raymond bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Mac lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Raymond circles away quickly and effectively.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mac tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raymond swivels and escapes.
Mac leaves Raymond with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mac avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Raymond goes for a double leg but Mac avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mac continues to drive forward.

Raymond circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mac tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raymond swivels and escapes.
Howard Raymond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Mac.
No luck for Raymond with that takedown attempt.

Mac moves into the clinch successfully.
Raymond has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mac after a bit of a struggle.

Mac tries a body shot but Raymond blocks it.

Mac ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mac no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mac is looking for a sweep. Raymond is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mac keeps trying to improve his position.

Mac wants to sweep but Raymond has passed to side control!
Mac tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Raymond with a couple of short strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mac can do anything to dispel that myth.
Raymond postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mac looks a forlorn figure.
Raymond with shots to the head and body - Mac looks very uncomfortable down there.
Raymond pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Mac really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Raymond working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Mac is trying to escape the mount.
Raymond lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mac hang on?
Raymond is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mac can do to turn this around?

Mac shoots in but no luck this time.
Raymond was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Mac tries a head kick but it misses.
Raymond fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mac looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Raymond is fending him off so far but Mac persists. Nope, Raymond circles away and we're back to standing.
Mac shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Raymond pinned against the cage. Raymond gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Howard Raymond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Mac.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mac fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Raymond sprawls well initially but Mac persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Raymond kicks Mac off and gets back to his feet.

Mac has a takedown stuffed.
Mac takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Raymond throws a head kick that misses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Raymond or perhaps it was just good defense by Mac, which made it look bad.
Mac is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Howard Raymond is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mac shoots in and bounces Raymond off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Raymond manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mac manages to get himself to full guard.

Mac wants to sweep here but Raymond controlling him for the moment.
Mac is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Raymond won't allow Mac to get back to his feet.

Mac is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Raymond to keep the fight standing.
Raymond fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mac digs a right hand underneath Raymond's ribcage. Raymond let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Raymond is trying to pull guard but Mac turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mac misses with a hook to the ribs.

Mac pulls guard.
Mac trying to keep a closed guard but Raymond is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Raymond won't allow Mac to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Howard Raymond.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Raymond, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
