PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ontari Vagos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Beznisko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ontari Vagos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Beznisko!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beznisko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vagos was covering up waiting for the punch and Beznisko finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Beznisko working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Vagos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Beznisko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Beznisko controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vagos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beznisko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beznisko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Beznisko works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beznisko seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Vagos looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Beznisko is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Beznisko is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Vagos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Beznisko pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beznisko is controlling the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
It looks like Beznisko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Beznisko is thwarting Vagos's attempts to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Beznisko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vagos defends it well.
Beznisko is taking a breather. Vagos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Beznisko is looking to clinch but Vagos is avoiding it.
Beznisko gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vagos is defended easily by Beznisko.
Vagos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Vagos shoots in looking for a takedown. Beznisko tries to sprawl out of it but Vagos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Beznisko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Vagos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beznisko is holding on to half guard well.

Beznisko is defending against the submission attempts here by Vagos.
Beznisko is staying active underneath Vagos, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Beznisko pushes Vagos off but Vagos dives into side control.
Beznisko wants to control but Vagos postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sergey Beznisko will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Beznisko is controlling the pace.
Beznisko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vagos is trying to control but can't.

Vagos is trying to maintain the position but Beznisko is very close to passing his half guard.

Beznisko is working for a kimura but Vagos is defending it quite comfortably.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Vagos trying to control here.
Vagos won't allow Beznisko to pass to mount.
Vagos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Beznisko controlling the action here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Beznisko drives through with a takedown into Vagos's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Beznisko wants to stand but Vagos has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Vagos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beznisko controls the pace.

Vagos is looking to cinch up a triangle. Beznisko throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Vagos's body to avoid the submission. Vagos has instead reached around Beznisko's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Vagos arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ontari Vagos!
