The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandao clobbers Karelin with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Diego Brandao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brandao buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Karelin just misses with a punch to the body.

and Brandao takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Karelin counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Brandao!
Brandao bucks up and tries to throw Karelin off but instead Karelin has got his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brandao is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Brandao is covering up but some of the strikes from Karelin are getting through and doing damage.

Karelin throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Karelin wants to control but Brandao is keeping busy.

Karelin has his opponent's back but Brandao is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Karelin.
A bone on bone clash there as Karelin blocks the leg kick.
Karelin is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Karelin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Brandao listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Brandao takes a swing at Karelin's ribcage but misses.
Karelin doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Brandao to counter with a crisp jab.

Brandao dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Karelin. That did some damage!
We've been hearing reports that Karelin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Brandao lands a head kick. Karelin smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Karelin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brandao can pounce on him.
Brandao throws a head kick but Karelin moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and Karelin tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Karelin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brandao tries to clinch there but Karelin circles away.
A little feinted left hand from Karelin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Brandao dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Good leg kick by Brandao there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Karelin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brandao can pounce on him.

Karelin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Brandao has his feet on Karelin's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Diego Brandao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brandao throws a head kick that half lands.
An inside leg kick lands from Brandao.
Karelin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Brandaos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Brandao is rocked!

Brandao looks up at the clock. Bad move! Karelin lands a right hand from hell, dropping Brandao. Karelin pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
