Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Glen Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hayato Kaneda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Glen Burnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hayato Kaneda!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaneda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Burnett fails with the takedown.
Burnett doesn't manage to clinch there - Kaneda circles away.

Burnett changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kaneda looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Burnett misses with the ground and pound.
Burnett tries to stand but Kaneda controls the position and pulls Burnett into his guard.
Burnett has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Burnett tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Kaneda is trying to control Burnett's posture but Burnett avoids it.
Burnett creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Kaneda is looking to regain half guard here but Burnett keeps moving and retains side control.
Kaneda can't do much from the bottom here.
Kaneda tries to buck Burnett off but Burnett is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burnett thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kaneda manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kaneda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kaneda.
Burnett wants to stand and escape but instead Kaneda has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Burnett is breathing heavily.
Burnett wants to control but Kaneda passes easily into half guard.
Kaneda is trying to control the action in half guard but Burnett is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Burnett wants to improve his position but Kaneda is controlling well.

Kaneda decides to stand up.
Burnett looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kaneda looks for a takedown but Burnett sprawls well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Burnett shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Burnett showed some decent athleticism there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glen Burnett dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Burnett is trying to control but Kaneda passes into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burnett is not content to let Kaneda control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kaneda has hold of Burnett's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Burnett manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Burnett slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Burnett is looking to improve his position.
Kaneda performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Burnett is trying to control but can't.
Burnett is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Kaneda is looking to pass Burnett's guard but actually Burnett recovers to full guard.
Burnett keeping moving, preventing Kaneda from controlling successfully.
Burnett looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Kaneda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burnett is fending him off so far but Kaneda persists. Nope, Burnett circles away and we're back to standing.

and Burnett counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kaneda won't be happy with that.
Glen Burnett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hayato Kaneda.
Kaneda regains half guard.
Burnett wants to stand up but Kaneda has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Burnett is tying to control. Kaneda wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Glen Burnett will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Burnett drives through and clinches with Kaneda against the cage.
Kaneda tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Burnett smiles and moves away.
Burnett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kaneda pinned against the cage. Kaneda gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Burnett is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burnett lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kaneda backs up against the cage.

and Kaneda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Burnett is trying to control the position but Kaneda postures up.
Burnett has control of Kaneda's left arm, preventing Kaneda from doing any damage.
Kaneda won't allow Burnett to sweep him here.

Kaneda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Burnett forces Kaneda back against the cage and clinches.
Kaneda stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Kaneda stalling in the clinch but Burnett improves position.
Burnett scores with a nice hook to the head.

Burnett wants to stand up but Kaneda is controlling him.
Kaneda pushing down on Burnett's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Burnett is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kaneda's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kaneda's back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Burnett wants to control but Kaneda is keeping busy.

Burnett has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kaneda has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Burnett gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Hayato Kaneda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Burnett slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

And that's the end of the fight!
Glen Burnett showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Burnett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
