Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Abdul The Refugee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie James!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and The Refugee counters with a takedown into side control.
The Refugee landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The Refugee scores with punches from side control.


James is rocked!
The Refugee tries to advance to mount but James denies him.
James is not content to let The Refugee control the position.
James avoids any damage from the ground and pound of The Refugee.
James is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
James is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Refugee cracks James with a big elbow.
The Refugee throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
James is trying to control The Refugee's posture but The Refugee avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James is looking for a sweep.
The Refugee misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
James is not content to let The Refugee control the position.
James is looking to reverse the position.
The Refugee moves into full mount!
The Refugee lands a couple of good shots and James has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The Refugee has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of James's body.
James wants to control his opponent's hands but The Refugee gets his hands free.
The Refugee is hanging on to James's back as he tries to escape.
James is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get The Refugee off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Refugee lands shots from the back.
The Refugee is raining down hard shots and and James has had enough - he's tapped out due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Abdul The Refugee!
A determined Abdul The Refugee didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
