Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Dulin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sasha Dulin!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dulin throws a leg kick that is checked
and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Dulin backing up. Dulin nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes.
Dulin darts in trying to clinch

and Alves counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Alves throwing shots but Dulin is blocking nicely.
Alves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dulin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Alves seems to be looking for submissions.
Alves takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Alves is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Dulin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alves is working away from the top position though.

Alves is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dulin sees it coming and defends easily.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alves is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Dulin is trying to stand up here but Alves is controlling him well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alves is keen to just control but Dulin is a slippery customer.
Dulin is trying to control but can't.
Dulin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Alves is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Alves makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Alves passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Dulin tries to buck Alves off but Alves is having none of it.
Alves remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dulin keeps working.
Dulin stops Alves from passing to mount.
Dulin is trying to control Alves's posture but Alves avoids it.
Dulin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alves haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Dulin is trying to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dulin throws a lazy uppercut

and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dulin's guard.
Alves makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Dulin manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Dulin breaks the clinch.
Dulin throws a leg kick

and Alves counters with a single leg into guard. Dulin didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dulin is trying to keep Alves in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dulin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Dulin gets back to half guard.
Alves winds up and cracks Dulin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Alves counters with a single leg into guard. Dulin didn't expect that.
Dulin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Alves puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Alves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dulin can do to turn this around?

Dulin tries to lock up and control but Alves gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Alves working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Alves trying to control but Dulin is having none of it.
Alves has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dulin's face.
Dulin is looking to improve his position but Alves isn't that keen on the idea.

Alves is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dulin is surviving well by controlling Alves's body position as best he can.
Dulin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Alves.

Alves is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dulin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dulin tries to hold on but Alves postures up.
Dulin has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Alves's lack of action.

Alves is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dulin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dulin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dulin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alves manages to get himself to full guard.


Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dulin defends well.
Alves utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Dulin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dulin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Dulin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dulin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Alves counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dulin won't be happy with that.
Dulin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dulin is looking to improve his position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alves lands a nice short elbow.
Dulin has a hand on Alves's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Alves takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alves pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Alves goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dulin is on top in guard.

We've been informed that Dulin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Dulin wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.

Alves is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Alves looking for a sweep. Not yet Alves, not yet.

Well Alves has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Luiz Alves opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
