Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dietmar Oberwald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oberwald gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oberwald on the ground.
Hernandez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oberwald is keeping the position for now.
Hernandez trying to control the position from guard on top but Oberwald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hernandez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hernandez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hernandez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hernandez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Oberwald doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Oberwald trying to keep a closed guard but Hernandez is proving a slippery customer.

Hernandez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Oberwald is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Oberwald has escaped and now he's on top!

Hernandez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hernandez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Oberwald is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hernandez.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on Hernandez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hernandez is not content to let Oberwald control the position.
Hernandez can't do much from the bottom here.
Hernandez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Oberwald is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Oberwald tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hernandez is trying to improve his position.
Hernandez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Oberwald scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hernandez to see if he's OK.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hernandez tries to improve position but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Oberwald misses with a few strikes there.

Hernandez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oberwald as he avoids it easily.

Hernandez shoots in for a double leg but Oberwald sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Hernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hernandez shoots in and drives through. Oberwald sprawls well.

Hernandez is breathing heavily.

Oberwald rushes Hernandez and presses him up against the cage.

Oberwald lands a takedown into guard.
Oberwald passes Hernandez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Oberwald is looking to advance position but Hernandez won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oberwald is thwarting Hernandez's attempts to control the position.
Oberwald is just content to waste time from the top position. Hernandez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Hernandez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Oberwald gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hernandez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Oberwald passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hernandez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Oberwald pulls his head out easily.

Hernandez tries to roll over but Oberwald keeps him under control.
Hernandez regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hernandez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hernandez keeping moving, preventing Oberwald from controlling successfully.
Oberwald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dietmar Oberwald dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Oberwald forces Hernandez back against the cage and clinches.
Hernandez can't get the takedown.
Oberwald wants to break free but Hernandez has control.
Hernandez wants a takedown.

Hernandez pulls guard successfully.
Oberwald keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hernandez's head.
Oberwald with a nice head shot there.
Hernandez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
