PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jules Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroshi Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jules Bryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hiroshi Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bryant clinches up against the cage.
Bryant stalling against the cage.

Suzuki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Suzuki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bryant paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bryant swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Suzuki shoots in but no luck this time.

Bryant manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Suzuki on his heels. He'll look to pass Suzuki's guard now, I'm sure.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bryant has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Bryant thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bryant will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bryant controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bryant shoots for a takedown but Suzuki saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Bryant shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bryant showed some decent athleticism there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bryant keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Suzuki is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Bryant jumps into side control!
Suzuki manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bryant's best efforts.

Bryant looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bryant is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Suzuki actively working from the bottom here.
Bryant is taking a breather. Suzuki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bryant lands with a punch from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bryant is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bryant is trying to work for a kimura but Suzuki is defending well.
Suzuki is trying to get back to full guard.
Bryant stalling.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jules Bryant dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Suzuki missing with a left hand there. Bryant was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bryant tries to counter by clinching up but Suzuki breaks away and moves out of range.

Bryant shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bryant was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bryant's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Suzuki is looking for a sweep.
Bryant slows the pace down.

Bryant seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Suzuki for as long as he can get away with.
Bryant really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bryant tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bryant has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bryant has an Americana. Suzuki didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bryant is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bryant hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jules Bryant!
