The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega scores with a head kick.

It looks like Romeo Christensen has been cut.
Vega tries to score a power double leg takedown but Christensen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vega somewhat.
Vega goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

and Christensen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Christensen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Christensen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Christensen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vega bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Vega is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Christensen is refusing to be controlled, as Vega sits in half guard.
Christensen is concentrating on defense, preventing Vega from advancing position.
Vega thows a huge punch but Christensen dodges it nicely.

Christensen wants to improve his position but Vega is controlling well.
Christensen pushes Vega off looking to stand but Vega dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Christensen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vega's guard.

Vega is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Christensen presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Vega breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Christensen drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vega sprawls and moves away.

Christensen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Christensen wants it to stay on the feet.

Vega flicks out a counter leg kick but Christensen steps away.

Christensen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vega to the ground. Christensen is now in Vega's guard.
Christensen is standing up over Vega. Vega looks to escape but Christensen dives into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Christensen blocks the strikes from Vega.
Vega is trying to stand.
