Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnnie Sellers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnnie Sellers has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnnie Sellers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damien Savage!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage is looking to clinch but Sellers is avoiding it.
Savage closes the distance looking to clinch

and Sellers counters with a single leg into guard. Savage didn't expect that.
Sellers is looking to stand up but Savage won't let him.
Savage tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Savage pulls Sellers in close to his closed guard and prevents Sellers from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sellers is in close to Savage's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Savage controlling Sellers's posture.

Savage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Savage will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Sellers looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sellers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Savage has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sellers has passed into side control.
Sellers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sellers is chipping away with strikes.
Sellers throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Savage works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Savage wants to improve his position but Sellers is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sellers perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sellers scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sellers in particular looking to stall.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sellers connects with a nice short shot to Savage's temple.

Savage is trying to stand back up but Sellers is controlling him
Sellers slows the pace down in half guard.
Sellers looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sellers is thwarting Savage's attempts to control the position.
Sellers wants to stand up but Savage is controlling the position.
Sellers content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Savage changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sellers looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sellers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sellers is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Savage asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sellers wants to control but Savage postures up.
Savage is trying to move to mount but Sellers reverses beautifully and ends up in Savage's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnnie Sellers dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Savage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sellers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Savage tries to close the distance and clinch but Sellers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Savage tries to keep at a distance but Sellers has taken the fight into the clinch.

Savage has picked Sellers up - he's going for a ride! Savage dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Sellers kicks Savage off and gets back to his feet.
Savage misses with a double jab.
Sellers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Savage closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Savage lands in his opponent's guard.
Sellers managing to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sellers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Savage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Savage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sellers is looking to cinch up a triangle. Savage throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sellers's body to avoid the submission. Sellers has instead reached around Savage's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sellers arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Johnnie Sellers!
