PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leif Dejesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hal Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leif Dejesus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hal Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dejesus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jordan as he jumps to the side.

Jordan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dejesus did well to prevent Jordan getting side control.

Dejesus has one foot on Jordan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Jordan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dejesus.

Jordan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jordan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dejesus is looking to improve his position.

Jordan is looking to pass Dejesus's guard but actually Dejesus recovers to full guard.
Dejesus is trying to hold Jordan in close to prevent damage but Jordan has managed to pass into half guard.

Jordan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Jordan wants to take a breather but Dejesus is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jordan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dejesus slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Jordan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Dejesus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Jordan sneaks out the side door and pushes Dejesus away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Jordan shoots in and gets a takedown into Dejesus's guard.
Dejesus wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jordan manages to pass to side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dejesus is not content to let Jordan control the position.
Dejesus gets full guard.
Dejesus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dejesus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jordan to score an easy takedown into full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jordan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dejesus dives on top into guard.


Jordan has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Dejesus has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Jordan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dejesus uses from the top position.

Jordan tries to bench press Dejesus off him but Dejesus keeps the position.
Jordan takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Jordan can't do much from the bottom here.

Dejesus tries for a kimura but Jordan is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jordan manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Dejesus wants to sweep but Jordan has passed to side control!
Jordan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Jordan stands up and beckons Dejesus to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jordan throws a head kick that misses.
Dejesus went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dejesus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jordan pinned against the cage. Jordan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hal Jordan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Dejesus shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jordan defends it nicely.

Jordan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jordan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dejesus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jordan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dejesus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jordan pulls his head out easily.

Jordan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jordan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jordan distracts Dejesus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jordan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jordan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dejesus on his heels. He'll look to pass Dejesus's guard now, I'm sure.

Jordan gets to his feet. Dejesus looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jordan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Leif Dejesus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hal Jordan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jordan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dejesus some visible discomfort.

Hal Jordan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jordan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
