Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Volya Nikolaev and Jamie White. Nikolaev kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Fever . White comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jamie White has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nikolaev seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
White misses with a left hand
and Nikolaev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nikolaev moves out of range as White throws a body kick.
Nikolaev looks to score with a jab to the body but White is just out of range.
White thows a leg kick but Nikolaev checks it
and White takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nikolaev shoots in but no luck this time.
White counters with a body kick.
White avoids the body shot from Nikolaev.
Nikolaev lands with an uppercut that bounces White off the cage and back into range.
White throws out a loose jab but Nikolaev uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jamie White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White has hold of Nikolaev's hands but Nikolaev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nikolaev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Nikolaev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, White has managed to free his arm - good work.
Nikolaev is stalling here. White is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nikolaev seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and White has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

White buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nikolaev fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. White looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Nikolaev counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps White thinking.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by White.
White lands a jab to the nose.
Nikolaev takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Nikolaev steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from White. That one must have hurt.
White's corner calls for a 1-2. White obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

White has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
White throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nikolaev changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nikolaev fails to land with a series of punches.
Nikolaev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says White as he avoids it easily.
White looks to score with a jab to the body but Nikolaev is just out of range.
Nikolaev lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
White lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nikolaev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but White manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nikolaev has White in his guard.

Nikolaev is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Volya Nikolaev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nikolaev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. White gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
White wants to control from the top but Nikolaev keeps moving.
White must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That was a close second round but I would say that Volya Nikolaev will probably get the nod.

White isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Nikolaev stacks White on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Nikolaev!

White manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

White slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Volya Nikolaev is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

You can see the frustration on Nikolaev's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nikolaev parries the strikes from White easily there. White is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nikolaev to escape.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nikolaev, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
