Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Sands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sands's entrance music is Irish Soldier Song ... Free & Green. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alvarez enables Sands to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alvarez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sands throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alvarez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Sands drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sands jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sands thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sands accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet but Sands is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sands scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Sands has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sands drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sands seems to have locked his on tight now - Alvarez screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sands, as he picks up the win!
