Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimi Powell (ranked 369 p4p, 14 weight class) and Gunnar Steigelmann (ranked 423 p4p, 15 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Powell might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 8 Mile. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell fails with an attempt to clinch.
Steigelmann misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Steigelmann misses with a looping right.
Powell scores with a hook to the body. Steigelmann takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Powell slips a jab from Steigelmann.
Powell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Steigelmann wants to control from the top but Powell keeps moving.

Steigelmann wants to pass the guard but Powell is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powell wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Steigelmann postures up in Powell's guard and throws a big left but Powell blocks it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Steigelmann is looking to score with low kicks.
Steigelmann misses with a wild combination.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Powell dives in for a single leg takedown but Steigelmann sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
We've been informed that Steigelmann has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Steigelmann dances in with a quick combination. Powell is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Steigelmann snaps Powell's head back. Powell stumbles backwards against the cage. Steigelmann steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Powell's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Powell just didn't come prepared.
