PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ackroyd Bloggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amir Aklaban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ackroyd Bloggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Amir Aklaban!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aklaban takes a swing at Bloggs's ribcage but misses.
Aklaban throws a hook but Bloggs avoids it easily.
Bloggs shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Nice sprawl there from Aklaban as Bloggs shoots in.
Aklaban should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Aklaban lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bloggs circles away quickly and effectively.

Aklaban fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bloggs sprawls well initially but Aklaban persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Aklaban connects with a nice short shot to Bloggs's temple.
Aklaban takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Aklaban has eaten all the pies!

It looks like Aklaban might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

It looks like Amir Aklaban has been cut.

Aklaban tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Aklaban will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bloggs or perhaps it was just good defense by Aklaban, which made it look bad.
Aklaban is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Bloggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Aklaban sprawls well. He's pushed Bloggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well Aklaban has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
