Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bashaad Al Hammad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Al Hammad circles away.

Lewis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Al Hammad's guard.
Al Hammad tries to strike from the bottom.
Lewis controls from within his opponent's guard.
Al Hammad is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lewis is trying to maintain the position but Al Hammad is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Al Hammad is nestled in close to Lewis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lewis has his takedown stuffed
and Al Hammad counters with a three punch combo that has Lewis backing up. Lewis nods at Al Hammad to acknowledge the strikes.
Lewis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Al Hammad swivels and escapes.
Lewis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lewis wants it to stay on the feet.

and Lewis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Al Hammad's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Al Hammad flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Al Hammad is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lewis can do to turn this around?
Lewis is keen to just control but Al Hammad is a slippery customer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lewis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Al Hammad attempts a counter takedown but Lewis avoids it well and moves away.
Bashaad Al Hammad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Lewis.

Lewis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Hammad's waist but Al Hammad gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lewis off to one side.

Lewis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Al Hammad shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Al Hammad was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
