Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Troy Morningstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and lucas Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troy Morningstar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Troy Morningstar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, lucas Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Araujo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Morningstar tries to improve position but can't.
Morningstar could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Morningstar struggling a bit here.

Araujo decides to stand back up. Araujo steps back and let's Morningstar get back to his feet.

Araujo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Araujo lands in his opponent's guard.
Araujo advances to half guard.

Araujo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Morningstar to get to his feet.
No joy there for Araujo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Araujo tries to clinch but Morningstar moves out of range.

Araujo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Araujo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Morningstar dives on top into guard.

Araujo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Morningstar passes into side control.
Araujo looks gassed!
Araujo tries to bench press Morningstar off him but Morningstar keeps the position.
Araujo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Araujo tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Morningstar presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Araujo is wriggling around trying to escape.

Morningstar is standing up, even though he is in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Araujo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Morningstar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Araujo - that will leave a mark!
Morningstar swats away the attempt to clinch by Araujo.
Araujo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Morningstar.
Morningstar lands a high kick to the side of Araujo's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Morningstar dives into guard, looking to finish.


Araujo is rocked!


It looks like lucas Araujo has been cut.
Morningstar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Araujo is still in real trouble! Can Morningstar finish him?

Araujo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Morningstar passes into side control.
Araujo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Morningstar is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Araujo seems to have recovered his senses.
Araujo is looking to improve his position but Morningstar isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Araujo tries to hold on but Morningstar postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but lucas Araujo will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on lucas Araujo's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Araujo avoids the head kick by Morningstar.
Morningstar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Araujo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Morningstar's guard.
Morningstar can't keep his opponent in guard - Araujo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Araujo decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Araujo is looking to clinch but Morningstar is avoiding it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Araujo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Araujo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Araujo fails with the takedown.
Morningstar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Araujo.
Morningstar cracks the inside of Araujo's front leg.
Morningstar avoids the head kick by Araujo.
Araujo fails to land the takedown.
Troy Morningstar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of lucas Araujo.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A head kick by Morningstar misses

and Araujo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Araujo trying to advance position but Morningstar counters by regaining guard.
Araujo is fighting to break Morningstar's control of his arms but Morningstar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Araujo gets to his feet. Morningstar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Araujo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Araujo stuffs the takedown attempt from Morningstar. Morningstar gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Araujo blocks a head kick by Morningstar.
lucas Araujo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Araujo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Morningstar's guard.

Araujo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Araujo stands and steps away. Morningstar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Araujo throws a combination. Morningstar tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Araujo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Morningstar throws a shot from downtown. Araujo moves away and avoids it.
Araujo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Morningstar.
Araujo misses with a two punch combination.

Araujo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Araujo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Araujo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Araujo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

lucas Araujo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Araujo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Morningstar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Araujo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Araujo wants to stand but Morningstar is controlling his arm.
Morningstar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Morningstar wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morningstar pushes Araujo off looking to stand but Araujo dives back in and keeps control.
Morningstar is in trouble now - Araujo has advanced to mount!
Morningstar tries to lock up and control but Araujo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Araujo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Araujo gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Araujo.
Morningstar stuffs the takedown.
Morningstar dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Araujo. That did some damage!
lucas Araujo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Morningstar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Araujo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Araujo tries to clinch there but Morningstar circles away.
Morningstar swats away the attempt to clinch by Araujo.
Araujo misses with a head kick.
Morningstar showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Araujo.
lucas Araujo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morningstar fails with the takedown
and Araujo counters with a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Morningstar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Araujo.
Araujo tries to clinch there but Morningstar circles away.

Araujo scores a takedown into full mount!
Morningstar tries to hold on but Araujo pushes him away.
Morningstar is squirming around, avoiding Araujo's attempts to control the action.

And that's the end of the fight!
lucas Araujo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Araujo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
