PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deshaun Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dr. Octagon - Earth People kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Deshaun Williams!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Jones.
Williams scores with a nice strike.
Williams lands with a good body shot.
Jones takes one to the chin there.
Jones takes one to the side of the head.
Williams darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Williams swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A big right from Jones misses.
Williams uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones.
Williams appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Williams's coach down at 5 Star Spar Bazaar OFC was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Williams's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
Williams chips away with some ground and pound.
Williams showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Williams.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Williams throws a big elbow that misses.
Williams sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard.
Williams uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Jones is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jones holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Williams tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Williams breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground.
Williams has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones is breathing heavily.
Williams softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Jones is out cold! Williams jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
