Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arden Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klay Irvine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arden Carter has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Irvine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Irvine must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Irvine decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Irvine won't be happy with that.

Carter shoots in but Irvine avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Irvine shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Irvine was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Irvine closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Carter has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Irvine is on him like a limpet, forcing Carter back against the cage.

Irvine has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Carter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Irvine throws a head kick but Carter moves out of range.

Irvine closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Irvine is stalling here. Carter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Irvine seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Carter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Irvine pushes Carter away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carter gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Irvine tries to control but Carter manages to take his back.
Irvine takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Carter is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Irvine knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Irvine for a finish.
Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
