Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wylan Mercy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner as his entrance music. The key to victory for Wylan Mercy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Mercy looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mercy moves out of range as Johnson throws a body kick.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Mercy avoids them all with ease.
Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mercy .

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mercy explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mercy tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Johnson manages to circle out of the way.
Peter Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mercy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson throws out a loose jab but Mercy uses good head movement to avoid it.

An elbow from Mercy crashes against the mat.
Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mercy tries to move to mount but Johnson blocks the move with his legs.

Mercy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.

Mercy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Mercy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mercy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mercy doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Mercy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mercy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Johnson feints and as Mercy raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mercy is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Mercy avoids nicely.
Mercy shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mercy dives in for a single leg takedown but Johnson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mercy slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.

Mercy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mercy has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

Johnson throws a series of punches but Mercy avoids them all with ease.

Johnson has a hand on Mercy 's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mercy takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Wylan Mercy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mercy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mercy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Johnson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mercy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Johnson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

As Johnson tries to get set, Mercy tries to push him back and clinch up but Johnson manages to avoid the attempt.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
