PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Halberstram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alberto Andrade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halberstram comes to the cage accompanied by Tool-The Pot. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Halberstram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alberto Andrade!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andrade misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Halberstram.
Andrade throws a leg kick but Halberstram sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Andrade moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Andrade shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Halberstram but Halberstram pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Andrade bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Halberstram lands a body shot.
Halberstram misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Halberstram cracks a nice hook into Andrade's ribs.
Andrade misses with a double jab
and Halberstram counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Andrade lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Halberstram has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Halberstram and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Halberstram misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Halberstram misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Andrade finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Andrade cracks Halberstram with a right hand to the side of the head.

Andrade fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Halberstram sprawls well initially but Andrade persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Andrade stalling away here and it's allowed Halberstram to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Andrade wants to control from the top but Halberstram keeps moving.

Halberstram pulls Andrade in close to prevent any damage.

Andrade drops back looking for a leg! Halberstram is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Halberstram manages to kick Andrade off! Andrade jumps back into Halberstram's guard.
Andrade thows a big elbow that misses.
Andrade stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Halberstram swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Andrade trying to control but Halberstram is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Andrade takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Andrade checks the leg kick.
Halberstram scores with a body shot.
Halberstram ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Andrade loads up on a big right hand but Halberstram slips the punch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Andrade tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Halberstram swivels and escapes.

Andrade throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Halberstram sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Andrade throws a push kick but Halberstram slaps the foot to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Andrade is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Halberstram knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Andrade goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Halberstram has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Andrade but great work by Halberstram.

Halberstram wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Andrade, who protects the arm well.
Andrade looking for a sweep but Halberstram has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Andrade is breathing heavily.
Halberstram looking to control but Andrade is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Halberstram prevents Andrade from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Andrade stops Halberstram from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Andrade is looking to control Halberstram's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Andrade avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Andrade tries to roll over but Halberstram keeps him under control.
Andrade is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Halberstram fails to land with a series of punches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Andrade wants to pass to mount but Halberstram is defending the position.

Alberto Andrade showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Halberstram moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Andrade looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Andrade controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Andrade is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Halberstram is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Halberstram has escaped and now he's on top!

Andrade throws his legs up looking for a submission but Halberstram uses it to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andrade is looking for a sweep.

Andrade is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Halberstram looks to land a combination but Andrade avoids it well.

Andrade is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Halberstram.

I would just about give that final round to Alberto Andrade.
I think Andrade has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
