Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vance Arlent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vance Arlent could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Steven Lewis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vance Arlent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arlent gets a double leg takedown into Lewis's guard.
Lewis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Arlent not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Arlent knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground.
Arlent trying to control but Lewis is working from the bottom.
Arlent has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lewis wants to sweep here but Arlent controlling him for the moment.

Arlent is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lewis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lewis scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Arlent doesn't seem bothered though.
Arlent shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lewis eats them both and turns towards Arlent to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Lewis shoots in but no luck this time.

Arlent closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Arlent is keen to just control but Lewis is a slippery customer.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arlent drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Arlent jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Arlent fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lewis sprawls well initially but Arlent persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Arlent lands a slapping body shot.

Arlent drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lewis is not content to let Arlent control the position.
Arlent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lewis can do to turn this around?
Arlent is really struggling to control Lewis but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Lewis wants to take a breather but Arlent is having none of it.

Arlent is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lewis pulls his head out easily.
Arlent has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lewis is working away from the top position though.

Lewis wants to stand but Arlent has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Arlent is staying active underneath Lewis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Arlent is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lewis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arlent looks up at the clock and then as Lewis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Arlent smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Arlent tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Arlent has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Arlent in side control lands a decent elbow.
Lewis can't do much from the bottom here.

Arlent shoots in and gets a takedown into Lewis's guard.

Arlent wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.
Vance Arlent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lewis has control of Arlent's left arm, preventing Arlent from doing any damage.
Lewis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Arlent closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard.

Well Arlent has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
