PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between De Janeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borys Mankowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mankowski has chosen Kękę -Wyjebane as his entrance music. Borys Mankowski told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, De Janeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Borys Mankowski!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Mankowski closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Janeiro to the mat! Janeiro manages to get full guard.

Janeiro is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mankowski is aware though and is defending well.

Mankowski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Janeiro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mankowski has managed to get both his arms back between Janeiro's legs - danger averted.

Janeiro seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Janeiro has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mankowski should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Janeiro has tightened it up now! Mankowski should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). De Janeiro!
De Janeiro was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
