Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Heart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heart has chosen Eric Church - Record Year as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Pan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Heart!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan tries to close the distance and clinch but Heart swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Heart throws a jab when Pan was well out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Pan has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Pan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Heart throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pan is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Heart.
Heart takes a swing at Pan's ribcage but misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Heart is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Heart throws a body punch but Pan moves out of range.
Pan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Heart paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pan fails with the takedown.
Pan lands a nice shot to the body.
Heart scores with a nice head shot.

Pan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Heart scores with a jab to the body.
Heart throws a jab when Pan was well out of range.
Heart swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Heart connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pan. Pan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Heart slips a straight right by Pan.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pan looks to throw the jab but Heart is out of range.
Heart throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Heart. Pan does a little dance to reset his feet.

That's time! Pan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Heart blocks a jab.
Pan attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Heart tries to counter with a clinch but Pan shakes him off and moves away.
Pan scores with a crisp jab that stopped Heart in his tracks.
Heart falls off balance throwing a combination

and Pan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pan is just content to waste time from the top position. Heart takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Pan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Heart is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Heart has escaped and now he's on top!

Heart stays in close to Pan's body and controls the position.

Pan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Heart's guard.

Pan wants to pass the guard but Heart is keeping the position.

Pan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Heart looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Heart looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Heart!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Pan is trying to control but Heart manages to pass to mount!
Pan tries to hold on but Heart pushes him away.
Pan is trying desperately to improve position.

Pan wants to control but Heart is having none of it.

Heart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pan is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Heart controlling the position easily from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pan wants to hold on but Heart pushes him away.

A close second round but Peter Heart will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Heart throws an overhand right that lands on Pan's shoulder, as Pan tries to avoid the shot.
Pan thumps Heart with a low kick.

Heart throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pan.

Pan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Heart manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Heart steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Pan.
Heart lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A clash of legs there as Heart blocks the low kick.
Peter Heart seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Heart moves out of range of the strikes.
Pan takes a swing at Heart's ribcage but misses.

Pan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Heart.
Pan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Heart manages to circle out of the way.

The fighters circle momentarily. Heart darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Heart loads up on a big right hand but Pan slips the punch.

Pan throws a solid leg kick but Heart takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Pan.
Pan scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Pan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Heart.
Pan half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Heart swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pan drops down looking for a counter takedown but Heart sprawls and moves away.
Pan on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Pan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Heart to the mat! Heart manages to get full guard.

Pan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Pan trying to control the action but Heart is working from the bottom.

Pan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Heart, who protects the arm well.
Pan works to advance to full mount. Heart defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Heart has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Pan prevents Heart from getting the reversal.
Pan is stalling here but it's allowed Heart to get half guard.

Heart is refusing to be controlled, as Pan sits in half guard.

Pan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Heart doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pan.
Pan is trying to control the action in half guard but Heart is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Heart is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pan's back!
Heart has the hooks in. Pan is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Pan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Heart lands a nice hook to Pan's body. Pan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Heart rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Heart defends it nicely.

Pan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Pan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Pan is looking for a kimura but Heart is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pan to get the leverage.
Pan is trying to control. Heart wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Pan wants to pass to mount but Heart is defending the position.
Pan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Heart keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Heart gets back to full guard.
Pan trying to control the position from guard on top but Heart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pan tries to free his leg and advance position but Heart is retaining full guard.
Pan wants to control from the top but Heart keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Pan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Heart is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Heart throws a jab but it's blocked by Pan.
Pan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Heart works over Pan's head and body with a nice combination.

and Heart counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Heart.
Heart managing to block the knees to the body from Pan.

Heart is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Heart postures up.

Pan is really struggling to control Heart but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
The crowd cheers as Heart lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pan doesn't seem phased though.
Pan misses with a body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Heart scores with a punch to the head.
Pan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Heart at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Pan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Heart connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pan scrambles back to his feet.

Heart lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Nice uppercut lands for Heart. That snapped Pan's head back.
Pan lands a jab to the head.

Heart throws the left hand but Pan avoids the punch easily.
Heart lands with an uppercut that bounces Pan off the cage and back into range.
Heart has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pan.

Pan lunges at Heart with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Heart's hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Heart sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pan looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Good leg kick by Pan there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Pan counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Heart throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Pan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hearts head.

Pan tries a knee to the head but Heart blocks it.
Pan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Heart smiles and moves away.

Heart misses with a body shot.
Pan misses with a wild body shot.
Pan throws a body punch but Heart moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Heart lands with a nice combination. Pan backs away looking to recover.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter Heart comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Heart winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Peter Heart decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
