Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Jacob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Jacob has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Jacob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patrick Stephens!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jacob paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stephens looks to land a combination. Jacob sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Stephens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stephens wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Jacob trying to control but Stephens is working from the bottom.
Jacob tries to free his leg and advance position but Stephens is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacob slips nicely into half guard.

Jacob seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stephens for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacob has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Stephens is trying to control but Jacob passes into side control!
Jacob is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stephens is looking to reverse the position.
Jacob wants to stand but Stephens is controlling his arm.

Jacob working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jacob moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Stephens tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jacob wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jacob wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stephens, who protects the arm well.
A lull in the action here as Jacob stalls from top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stephens shoots in for a takedown but Jacob shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Stephens gets caught flat footed, as Jacob shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jacob is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Stephens has a closed guard, preventing Jacob from standing up.

Jacob is working Stephens over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Jacob stands up over Stephens, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jacob advances position into side control!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stephens gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Stephens controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Jacob dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stephens is defended easily by Jacob.
Jacob throws out a loose jab but Stephens uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jacob closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stephens's guard.
Jacob is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jacob passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacob wants to stand but Stephens is controlling his arm.

Jacob's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jacob swings around for an armbar but Stephens sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jacob's guard.

Stephens decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jacob, up you get!

and Stephens counters with a left and a right that stings Jacob.
Jacob keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jacob lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Stephens tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jacob manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stephens shoots for a takedown but Jacob saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tyler Jacob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Stephens.
Stephens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jacob swivels and escapes.
Jacob lands a two punch combo.
Jacob shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stephens but Stephens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stephens is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Tyler Jacob is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stephens slaps away a takedown attempt from Jacob, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jacob closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jacob lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jacob working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Stephens's head.

Stephens working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jacob has passed into half guard!
Stephens has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jacob is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stephens trying to control but Jacob flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Jacob.

Jacob is pulling down on Stephens's head. It's preventing any offense from Stephens, at least for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Stephens throws a series of punches but Jacob avoids them all with ease.

Jacob has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jacob throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Stephens blocks it with crossed arms.
Stephens gets underhooks to prevent Jacob's takedown attempt.
Stephens tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jacob avoids it.
Jacob content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Jacob tries for a takedown. No joy.

Jacob breaks the clinch.
Jacob shoots in and drives through. Stephens sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Jacob. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stephens shoots for a takedown but Jacob saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jacob went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jacob tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jacob wants to control the pace but Stephens is squirming around nicely.

Stephens is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jacob is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Stephens really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Jacob takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Stephens tries to hold on but Jacob pushes him away.
Jacob lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jacob wants to get back to his feet but Stephens is holding on tight.
Patrick Stephens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyler Jacob is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jacob, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
