Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devon Van Reek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gigi Casuba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Devon Van Reek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gigi Casuba!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Van Reek shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Van Reek was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Casuba looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Van Reek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casuba keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Casuba sneaks out the side door and pushes Van Reek away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Van Reek throws a head kick but Casuba moves out of range.
Casuba throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Casuba stuffs the takedown.
Horrible takedown attempt by Casuba or perhaps it was just good defense by Van Reek, which made it look bad.

Van Reek has Casuba up against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee is keeping an eye on Van Reek - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Casuba has Van Reek pressed against the cage, preventing Van Reek from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Casuba controlling the action here for a moment.

Van Reek breaks the clinch.

Van Reek fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Casuba, pushing him back against the cage.
Van Reek lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Casuba backwards.
Van Reek stalls.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Van Reek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Van Reek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Casuba was covering up waiting for the punch and Van Reek finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Casuba is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Van Reek wants the takedown. Casuba is fighting it off but Van Reek persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Casuba's guard against the cage.

Casuba manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Van Reek fails to land the takedown.
Casuba has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Van Reek is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Van Reek looks to land a combination but Casuba avoids it well.
Casuba shoots in but Van Reek avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Van Reek moves into the clinch.
Casuba is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Van Reek is defending well.
Devon Van Reek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gigi Casuba.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Casuba tries for a takedown. No joy.
Van Reek tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Casuba pulls guard effortlessly.
Van Reek wants to stand but Casuba has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Van Reek is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Van Reek is in close to Casuba's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Casuba wants to get back to his feet but Van Reek is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Casuba being controlled here, momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gigi Casuba will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Casuba closes the distance and clinches.
Van Reek avoiding damage as Casuba throws knees to the body.
Casuba tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Van Reek just stands there and leans against the cage.
Casuba is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Van Reek to keep the fight standing.
Van Reek is pushing Casuba up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Van Reek is trying to break free.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Van Reek doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Van Reek manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Van Reek seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Van Reek wants to sweep here but Casuba controlling him for the moment.

Van Reek has an active guard here but Casuba has managed to pass into half guard.
Van Reek wants to improve his position but Casuba is controlling well.
Casuba really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Reek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Van Reek is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Casuba's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Casuba's back!

Van Reek has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Casuba has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Casuba is keeping busy.
Van Reek is really struggling to control Casuba but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Casuba is in bad spot here.
Van Reek just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Van Reek's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Van Reek sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Casuba taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Devon Van Reek!
