Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Acton!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Acton scores with a takedown into Hatton's guard.
Hatton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Acton trying to control the position from guard on top but Hatton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Acton passes Hatton's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Acton stalling away here and it's allowed Hatton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Hatton looking for a sweep. Not yet Hatton, not yet.
Acton advances position into side control!

Acton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hatton, who protects the arm well.
Acton taking a breather here.
Hatton sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Acton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hatton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Acton is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Hatton is trying to maintain the position but Acton is very close to passing his half guard.
Hatton wants to get back to full guard.
Acton trying to control the pace.
Hatton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Acton on the ground.

Acton wants to control but Hatton is keeping him busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hatton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Acton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Acton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Acton lands in his opponent's guard.
Hatton trying to keep a closed guard but Acton is proving a slippery customer.
Acton passes into half guard.
Acton is pressing down on Hatton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hatton is holding on for now.
Hatton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Acton is working away from the top position though.

Acton is working for a submission of some sort.

Hatton wants to control but Acton is keeping busy.
Acton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hatton is staying active underneath Acton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hatton wants to improve his position but Acton is controlling well.
Acton is pressing down on Hatton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hatton is holding on for now.
Hatton is looking for a sweep. Acton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Acton works his foot free and advances to mount.
Acton controlling the pace for now.
Hatton tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Acton should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Acton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Hatton is breathing heavily.

Acton throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Hatton has his hands clasped together but Acton breaks the hold and Hatton is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Acton!
