Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Malvin Mandi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Minoru Nakano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nakano is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Great Muta Concerto. Minoru Nakano has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Malvin Mandi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malvin Mandi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minoru Nakano!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandi punishes Nakano's body with a nice straight punch.
Nakano shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mandi sprawls well. Mandi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nakano gets slowly back to his feet.

Mandi tries to sprawl but Nakano drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Nakano is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nakano is trying to get an arm triangle but Mandi is defending well.

Mandi seems a little lost for a moment, as Nakano dominates the positioning.
You can see the frustration on Mandi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mandi is working to get back to half guard.

Nakano has hold of Mandi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mandi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mandi is squirming around, avoiding Nakano's attempts to control the action.

Nakano looking to take Mandi's back but Mandi rolls and after a scramble, Mandi ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Mandi to escape a tricky position.
Mandi wants to control from the top but Nakano keeps moving.
Nakano is trying to keep Mandi in close.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nakano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mandi pushes Nakano off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nakano dives in and grabs Mandi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mandi pushes down on Nakano's head and hops out.
Mandi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mandi wants it to stay on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nakano goes for a double leg but Mandi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mandi continues to drive forward.

Nakano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mandi keeps working.
Nakano is pressing down on Mandi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mandi is holding on for now.
Nakano is looking to take a break and control but Mandi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nakano throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mandi's waist but Mandi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nakano off to one side.
