Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Nicolosi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anfernee McCutchen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicolosi comes to the cage accompanied by Step Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mauricio Nicolosi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anfernee McCutchen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicolosi just misses with a punch to the body.
McCutchen lands with a straight right. Nicolosi didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Mauricio Nicolosi has been cut.
McCutchen wants to clinch.
Nicolosi swats away the attempt to clinch by McCutchen.
McCutchen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A bone on bone clash there as Nicolosi blocks the leg kick.
Nicolosi shoots in and drives through. McCutchen sprawls well.
Nicolosi tries for a takedown but McCutchen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Anfernee McCutchen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCutchen wants to slow Nicolosi down by chopping away at his legs.
McCutchen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Good leg kick by McCutchen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McCutchen misses with a kick to the body.
McCutchen checks the leg kick nicely there.
McCutchen throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Nicolosi.
McCutchen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nicolosi fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Nicolosi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCutchen tries to clinch but Nicolosi moves out of range.
McCutchen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McCutchen explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

A big head kick from McCutchen and Nicolosi is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Nicolosi is breathing heavily.
McCutchen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nicolosi is keeping the position for now.
McCutchen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McCutchen trying to control the position from guard on top but Nicolosi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nicolosi is pulling down on McCutchen's head. It's preventing any offense from McCutchen, at least for the moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nicolosi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nicolosi has McCutchen pulled in close to control his posture.
Nicolosi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nicolosi blocks McCutchen's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McCutchen is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

McCutchen tries to work over Nicolosi's front leg with a kick but Nicolosi checks it.
McCutchen throws a head kick but Nicolosi moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - McCutchen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

McCutchen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Nicolosi counters with a body kick that stops McCutchen in his tracks momentarily.
McCutchen is breathing heavily.
McCutchen pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McCutchen closes the distance but Nicolosi moves to the side

and Nicolosi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McCutchen's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nicolosi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Nicolosi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

McCutchen trying to keep a closed guard but Nicolosi is proving a slippery customer.
Nicolosi stays in close to McCutchen's body and controls the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Nicolosi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
McCutchen connects with a solid leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nicolosi blocks a head kick by McCutchen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mauricio Nicolosi will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


McCutchen tries a head kick but it misses.
McCutchen throws a sloppy head kick and Nicolosi moves out of range easily.

and Nicolosi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McCutchen's guard.
Nicolosi tries to free his leg and advance position but McCutchen is retaining full guard.
Nicolosi pushes down on McCutchen's leg and manages to get into half guard.

McCutchen clinches but Nicolosi breaks the clinch

and Nicolosi counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCutchen is being controlled here.

Nicolosi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
McCutchen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nicolosi is concentrating on defense, preventing McCutchen from advancing position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Nicolosi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
McCutchen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Anfernee McCutchen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McCutchen connects with a nice looking jab.
Nicolosi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Nicolosi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McCutchen sprawls well initially but Nicolosi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Nicolosi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mauricio Nicolosi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Nicolosi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
