Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Datass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Datass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Stephens!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Datass takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Stephens tries to clinch but Datass is having none of it.
Stephens fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Stephens shoots in and drives through. Datass sprawls well.
Datass shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stephens pinned against the cage. Stephens gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Datass throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stephens shoots in for a double leg but Datass sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Datass seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Peter Datass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Stephens.
Horrible takedown attempt by Stephens or perhaps it was just good defense by Datass, which made it look bad.
Datass attempts a counter takedown but Stephens avoids it well and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Datass on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Stephens makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Stephens misses with a takedown attempt - Datass sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stephens digs a good body shot into Datass's ribs.
Datass wants to clinch up but Stephens keeps it at a distance.
Stephens feints the counter takedown.
Stephens throws a push kick but Datass slaps the foot to one side.
Stephens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Datass paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Datass counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stephens won't be happy with that.

Stephens explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Datass throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Datass circles away from the clinch attempt.

Stephens pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Datass closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stephens's guard.

Stephens has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Datass off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Samuel Stephens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stephens throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Datass stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Stephens feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Datasss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Stephens closes the distance and clinches.
Stephens prevents the takedown attempt.
Stephens prevents Datass from breaking the clinch.

Datass breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stephens tests Datass's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Stephens keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Datass.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Stephens! But no joy.
Datass stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Datass wants it to stay on the feet.
Datass is looking for a counter combo.
Datass circles away from the clinch attempt.
Datass fires out a quick counter leg kick but Stephens just manages to avoid it.
Stephens closes the distance and clinches up with Datass, looking for a takedown. Stephens pushes Datass against the cage but Datass circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Stephens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Datass avoids it really well and circles away.

Stephens moves into the clinch successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Datass changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stephens tries to avoid it but Datass manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stephens to the ground. Stephens escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Stephens takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Datass is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Datass manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stephens manages to get himself to full guard.


Stephens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Datass can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Stephens is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Datass not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Peter Datass has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Datass wants to get up but he can't break Stephens's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

I would just about give that final round to Samuel Stephens.
Well Stephens has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
