PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tomasz Rzasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Carpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Carpe will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tomasz Rzasa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Carpe!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpe tries a head kick but it misses.
Rzasa drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carpe sprawls and moves away.
Rzasa tries to close the distance and clinch but Carpe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carpe shoots in looking for a takedown but Rzasa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carpe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Carpe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rzasa throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Rzasa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Carpe lands a couple of elbows.
Carpe working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Rzasa is trying to control the position but Carpe postures up.

Rzasa manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Carpe turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rzasa managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Carpe.
Rzasa tries to buck Carpe off but Carpe is having none of it.
Rzasa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Carpe connects with a decent elbow.
Carpe fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Carpe in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Rzasa looks to move to half guard but instead Carpe has passed into mount! Damn!
Rzasa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rzasa keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Carpe is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rzasa has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rzasa!
Carpe tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rzasa lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carpe is looking to cinch up a triangle. Rzasa throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Carpe's body to avoid the submission. Carpe has instead reached around Rzasa's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Carpe arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
