The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odim closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Herring wants to break the clinch but can't.

Herring is looking for a choke. Odim gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Odim manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Odim shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Herring sprawls well. Herring wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Odim gets slowly back to his feet.
Herring seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Herring shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Odim's guard.
Herring postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Odim throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Herring escapes and throws Odim's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Odim is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Odim is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Herring is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
