PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Welcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Poon Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poon Hunter told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Hunter. No joy for Welcher on that attempt.
Hunter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Welcher was well out of range. Poor timing from Hunter.
Welcher fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hunter fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Welcher misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Buddy Welcher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter misses with a few strikes there.
Welcher shoots in but Hunter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Welcher slips a jab and a cross from Hunter.
Welcher is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hunter.
Hunter scores with a jab to the jaw.
Welcher shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunter but Hunter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Welcher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Welcher is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Welcher shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunter as he avoids it easily.
Poon Hunter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hunter lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Welcher takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hunter misses with a body shot.
Hunter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Welcher's hands.
Hunter connects with the punch.
Hunter is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Welcher had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Welcher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hunter pinned against the cage. Hunter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hunter connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Welcher is rocked!
Hunter walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Welcher drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Hunter swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Welcher's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
