PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jaylan Tutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Luke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jaylan Tutt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Luke!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luke closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Tutt wants to control but Luke postures up.
Tutt is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Luke remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Luke grinds an elbow into Tutt's temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tutt wants to control but Luke postures up.
Tutt tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tutt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Luke has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Tutt!

Tutt throwing hammer fists to the chest of Luke. What's that going to do exactly?
Tutt tries to hold on but Luke pushes him away.

Luke stands up from mount. Strange move.

Luke shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tutt is trying to defend but Luke finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Luke trying to control the pace.
Luke is looking to advance position but Tutt won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Luke is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Tutt trying to control from the bottom.
Luke lands with a punch from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luke keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Tutt trying to hold on to Luke's head to control him but Luke postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tutt is pressing down on Luke's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tutt throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Luke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tutt's head.
Tutt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Luke landing with the ground and pound.
Luke is stalling in the full guard.

Tutt throws his legs up looking for a submission but Luke uses it to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Luke is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tutt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tutt can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Luke dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tutt pushes Luke away with a front kick.
Tutt has a takedown stuffed.
Luke tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Tutt lands a head kick. Luke smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Luke closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tutt did well to prevent Luke getting side control.

Tutt has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Luke is on him like a limpet, forcing Tutt back against the cage.

Tutt pulls guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Luke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tutt controlling the position.

Tutt looking for subs off his back but Luke has passed one foot through into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Well, if Luke is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Luke wants to get back to his feet.
Luke is nestled in close to Tutt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Luke seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Luke drops an elbow to the side of Tutt's head.
Luke is controlling the pace.
Tutt throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Luke manages to pass to side control.
Eric Luke has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tutt is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Luke tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Tutt trying his best to control but Luke has mounted him.
Luke controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Luke tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Luke raining down shots from the mount!
Tutt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Luke controlling from the full mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Luke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Tutt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Tutt darts in looking for a takedown but Luke gets double underhooks and turns Tutt into the cage.

Luke fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tutt, pushing him back against the cage.
Tutt blocks a body shot from Luke.

Tutt breaks from the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Luke.
Luke wants to stand but Tutt has his arm trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tutt seems a little lost for a moment, as Luke dominates the positioning.
Tutt tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Luke controlling well, preventing Tutt from escaping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luke is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Luke gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Luke gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Luke apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Tutt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Luke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Luke scores with a takedown into Tutt's guard.
Tutt is looking to stand back up but Luke counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tutt.

Tutt won't allow Luke to pass to mount.
Luke looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Luke sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Luke scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Luke stalling.
Luke working Tutt over with strikes.
Tutt is looking to improve his position.
Luke keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Luke has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tutt is looking to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tutt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Luke pinned against the cage. Luke gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Luke closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eric Luke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Luke winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
