PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ferdinand Richmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Perrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perrone has chosen Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Perrone!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perrone misses with a body kick.
Richmond appears to be looking for a big counter.

Perrone drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Richmond avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Richmond knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perrone on the ground.
Perrone throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richmond works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Perrone throwing strikes from guard but Richmond blocks nicely.
Perrone preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perrone trying to control the position from guard on top but Richmond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Perrone in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Richmond is trying to keep Perrone in close.

Perrone wants to control from the top but Richmond keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Richmond can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Perrone controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Perrone instigates a clinch.
Richmond wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Richmond is fighting off a takedown attempt but Perrone is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Richmond to the mat. Richmond regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Richmond has control of Perrone's left arm, preventing Perrone from doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Richmond is on top in guard.

Richmond trying to control the position from guard on top but Perrone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Richmond landing some decent shots from guard.
Perrone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Perrone is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Perrone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Richmond does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Richmond is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Perrone in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Richmond moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Richmond utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Perrone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perrone wants to control from the top but Richmond keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Perrone is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Perrone missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Perrone is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Richmond is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Richmond has escaped and now he's on top!

Richmond throws a strike but Perrone rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Perrone scoring with punches to the head and body.
Perrone throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Perrone dominated that round.
That's time! Richmond's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Perrone stuffs the takedown attempt from Richmond. Richmond gets slowly back to his feet.
Pedro Perrone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Perrone shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Perrone showed some decent athleticism there.
Richmond is looking to get back to is feet but Perrone passes into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perrone in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Perrone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Richmond keeps working.

Richmond tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Perrone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Richmond is working hard here to advance position.
Perrone throws an elbow but Richmond slips to the side and avoids it well.
Perrone scoring with punches and elbows.
Richmond is not content to let Perrone control the position.

Perrone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Richmond has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Richmond is looking for a sweep.
Perrone working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Perrone is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Richmond looks calm but he's in trouble here. Perrone gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Richmond is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Perrone lets go of the hold and Richmond can pop his arm back in it's socket.
