Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirtbag Dan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angle comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Doors - Roadhouse Blues kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Dirtbag Dan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kurt Angle!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Angle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Angle lands in his opponent's guard.

Dan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Angle pushes down on Dan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Angle looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Angle wants to work for an arm triangle but Dan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dan is looking to improve his position.
Angle trying to mount his opponent but Dan defends it.
Dan is refusing to be controlled, as Angle sits in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Angle seems to be working for a kimura but Dan defends the submission attempt.

Angle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dan defends it well.

Angle is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Angle.

Angle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dan is trying is best to control the position here.
Angle works his way into full mount!
Dan wants to control but Angle is having none of it.
Dan is trying desperately to improve position.
Dan wants to hold on but Angle pushes him away.
Dan is desperately trying to improve his position but Angle has a good base and remains in mount.

Angle is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dan!
Dan wants to pass the guard but Angle is keeping the position.

Angle has his foot on Dan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dan works his way back into a safe position though.

Angle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dan defends well.

Dan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dan has managed to get both his arms back between Angle's legs - danger averted.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform us that Angle has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Angle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Angle has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Angle.
Dan wants to stand but Angle has his arm trapped.
Angle is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dan is thwarting Angle's attempts to control the position.
Dan is looking to take a break and control but Angle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Angle is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Angle manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Angle working for a triangle but Dan defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Angle dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dan throws a quick inside leg kick.
Angle dives in and grabs Dan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dan pushes down on Angle's head and hops out.

Angle tries to keep at a distance but Dan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Dan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Angle has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Dan after a bit of a struggle.
Angle on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Angle as Dan tries to tie him up.
Dan with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Angle gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Dan controls Angle momentarily but Angle frees himself.

Angle trying to control but Dan is working from the bottom.

Angle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Angle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Angle has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dan is looking to cinch up a triangle. Angle throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Dan's body to avoid the submission. Dan has instead reached around Angle's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Dan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dirtbag Dan!
