Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Newton Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carl Weathers!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weathers looks for a takedown but Hansen sprawls well.
Carl Weathers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Weathers shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hansen defends it nicely.
Weathers throws a sloppy head kick and Hansen moves out of range easily.

Weathers drives through with a takedown into Hansen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hansen wants to stand and escape but Weathers is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hansen manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Weathers gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Weathers wants to pass to mount but Hansen is defending the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hansen is trying to stand back up but Weathers is controlling him

Weathers controlling the pace.
Weathers lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hansen is trying to stand back up but Weathers is controlling him
Weathers tries to pass to full mount but Hansen defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Weathers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Weathers winds up and cracks Hansen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hansen has hold of Weathers's hands but Weathers slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Weathers slows the pace down in half guard.

Weathers is working for a kimura but Hansen is defending it quite comfortably.
Weathers moves nicely into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weathers lands a decent elbow from side control.
Weathers taking a breather here.
Weathers trying to control the position but Hansen is working away.
Hansen is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Weathers landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Weathers prevents Hansen from escaping the position.

Weathers stands up and beckons Hansen to his feet.

Weathers gets a double leg takedown into Hansen's guard.
Weathers works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Weathers controlling the action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Weathers dominated that round.

Weathers fails with a takedown attempt.
Weathers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Weathers dives in and grabs Hansen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hansen pushes down on Weathers's head and hops out.
Newton Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Weathers.
Weathers shoots for a double leg takedown but Hansen sprawls well. He's pushed Weathers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Weathers lands a nice shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weathers closes the distance and lands a one-two.


Hansen is rocked!


It looks like Newton Hansen has been cut.
Hansen backs away from a small jab... but Weathers lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Hansen crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Weathers with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Carl Weathers!
