These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Churchill slips under a jab.
Churchill needs to keep his hands up - Barbossa had a free shot at his head there.
Churchill dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Churchill lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Barbossa.
Churchill checks a leg kick nicely.
Churchill slips under a jab.
Barbossa throws a lazy head kick
and Churchill counters with a stiff right hand.
Winston Churchill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barbossa works the jab nicely.
Barbossa misses with a straight right.
Barbossa lands a nice looking body shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Barbossa.

We've been informed that Churchill has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Churchill throws a jab when Barbossa was well out of range.

Churchill fails to land with a series of punches.
Barbossa throws a front kick that sends Churchill stumbling back into the cage.
Churchill throws a head kick that half lands.

The fight stays on the outside here - Churchill looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Churchill throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Barbossa misses with a hook
and Churchill cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Churchill blocks a head kick by Barbossa.
Barbossa swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Churchill tries to counter with a clinch but Barbossa shakes him off and moves away.
Barbossa throws a leg kick but Churchill moved away.
Churchill is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Churchill cracks Barbossa with a right hand to the side of the head.
Barbossa misses with a looping left.
Churchill misses with a right hand
and Barbossa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Barbossa bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Churchill's head backwards.
Churchill lands a high kick!
Churchill tries a head kick but it misses.
Barbossa lands with a hook. Churchill tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Churchill uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Barbossa has time to react.
Churchill connects with a looping right hand.


Barbossa is rocked!

Churchill throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Barbossa counters with a nice uppercut.
Churchill tried to score with a low kick but Barbossa checks it.
Churchill fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Churchill lands a big head kick that sends Barbossa tumbling to the mat! Churchill takes a step backwards and waves Barbossa back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Barbossa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Churchill throws a big shot that misses.
Barbossa throws a hook but Churchill blocks it.
Barbossa throws an off balance right hand
and Churchill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Churchill steps in with a hook that catches Barbossa right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Churchill follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Barbossa looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Winston Churchill!
After winning the bout, Winston Churchill thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
