PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Perkis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkis fails with a takedown attempt.
Perkis tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Both fighters circling a little - Johnson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Perkis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Perkis.
Perkis slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Perkis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Perkis wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Perkis. Perkis gets slowly back to his feet.

Johnson clinches up with Perkis and pushes him back against the cage.

Perkis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.

Perkis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Johnson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Perkis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Perkis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Perkis has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Johnson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Aaron Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Aaron Johnson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
