Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jefferson Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raphael Mendoza is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jefferson Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raphael Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ron Honeybunn and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza shoots for a takedown but Warren saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mendoza shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warren but Warren pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As Mendoza tries to get set, Warren tries to push him back and clinch up but Mendoza manages to avoid the attempt.

Warren pushes Mendoza up against the cage in a clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendoza has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Warren after a bit of a struggle.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Warren is working an open guard so Mendoza takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Warren throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mendoza circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mendoza drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Warren defends it well.
Mendoza shoots in for a takedown but Warren shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mendoza is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Warren's half guard.
Warren tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mendoza manages to move to mount!

That was a close round but I would say that Jefferson Warren will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Warren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendoza swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Warren stands and steps away. Mendoza gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Warren feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mendoza's calf.
Warren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendoza swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mendoza with the counter takedown but Warren avoids it easily.

Mendoza fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Warren, pushing him back against the cage.
Warren wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mendoza has him pressed against the cage.

Mendoza is looking to take this one to the mat.
Mendoza tries to pull guard but Warren forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Mendoza drops down looking for an ankle pick but Warren pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mendoza clinches with his opponent.
A frustrated look appears on Warren's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Warren wants to break the clinch but can't.
Warren has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Warren blocks an uppercut.

Mendoza pulls guard successfully.
Warren trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mendoza's guard.
Warren really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mendoza is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Warren postures up.
Warren preventing the sweep.
Mendoza is striking but Warren is not phased and passes to half guard.

Mendoza is refusing to be controlled, as Warren sits in half guard.
Warren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendoza on the ground.
Warren prevents Mendoza from improving his position.
Warren keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Warren wants to stand but Mendoza has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mendoza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raphael Mendoza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Warren has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mendoza has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Mendoza trying to control but Warren is working from the bottom.

Warren wants to reverse the position here. Mendoza has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Warren is forced to tap! Warren looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
