Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clinton Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe West Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clinton Salazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe West Jr!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salazar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in West Jr's guard.
West Jr wants to stand up but Salazar is controlling him.
Salazar wants to stand but West Jr is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West Jr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if West Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.
West Jr is trying to control the position but Salazar postures up.
Salazar controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West Jr pulls Salazar in close to his closed guard and prevents Salazar from doing any damage or advancing position.

Salazar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
West Jr tries to stand but Salazar is controlling from the bottom.

Salazar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Joe West Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Salazar counters with a three punch combo that has West Jr backing up. West Jr nods at Salazar to acknowledge the strikes.

West Jr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

West Jr wants to control but Salazar is keeping him busy.
Salazar is trying to control but can't.

Salazar manages to get to full guard.

Salazar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. West Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. West Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Salazar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but West Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A close round but Joe West Jr will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


West Jr looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Salazar is fending him off so far but West Jr persists. Nope, Salazar circles away and we're back to standing.
West Jr misses with a series of wild punches.

West Jr moves into the clinch successfully.
West Jr jumps guard but Salazar turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
West Jr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Salazar walks away with a smile on his face. West Jr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Clinton Salazar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe West Jr.

West Jr has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Salazar has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
West Jr wants to control but Salazar manages to buck him off and is now in West Jr's guard! Nice work there by Salazar!

West Jr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Salazar wants to stand but West Jr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salazar wanted to stand there but West Jr had control of the position.
West Jr has control of Salazar's left arm, preventing Salazar from doing any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
An inside leg kick from Salazar misses.

West Jr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
West Jr tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Salazar smiles and moves away.
Clinton Salazar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

West Jr takes the fight into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

West Jr has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Salazar regains guard immediately.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe West Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Salazar wanted to stand there but West Jr had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
West Jr goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Salazar slaps away a takedown attempt from West Jr, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Salazar appears to be looking for a big counter.
West Jr gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Salazar counters with a nice body shot.
West Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

West Jr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Salazar is looking to counter the offense by West Jr and move into the clinch.

West Jr closes the distance and clinches.
Clinton Salazar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe West Jr is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
West Jr is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Salazar to keep the fight standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Clinton Salazar.
I think West Jr has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
