The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jardine fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jacobs, pushing him back against the cage.
Jacobs wants to break the clinch but can't.

Jardine pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jardine shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jacobs slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Jacobs is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jardine defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looked like Jacobs was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Jacobs fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jardine fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs avoids it really well and circles away.

Jardine moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Derek Jacobs has been cut.

Jacobs tries to keep at a distance but Jardine has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jacobs is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jardine jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jacobs walks away with a smile on his face. Jardine gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jardine looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Derek Jacobs will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jardine goes for a double leg but Jacobs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jacobs continues to drive forward.

Jardine has managed to clinch.

Jardine's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jardine fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jacobs leaves Jardine with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As Jardine tries to get set, Jacobs tries to push him back and clinch up but Jardine manages to avoid the attempt.

Jacobs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jacobs has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jardine is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Jacobs yanks on the arm and Jardine is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Jacobs.
