PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Fraser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Fraser will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Fraser!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar looks for a takedown but Fraser sprawls well.

Fraser takes the fight into the clinch.
Fraser has had enough of the clinch but Lesnar keeps him there for the moment.
Lesnar is trying to pull guard but Fraser has him pressed against the cage.

Lesnar pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lesnar keeping full guard, as Fraser tries to pass.
Lesnar throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fraser is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fraser accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fraser loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lesnar controls Fraser momentarily but Fraser frees himself.
Lesnar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fraser manages to get himself to full guard.

Lesnar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fraser is keeping the position for now.
Fraser throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Fraser looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fraser working for a triangle but Lesnar defends it easily.

Lesnar throwing strikes from guard but Fraser blocks nicely.
Fraser wants to sweep but no luck.
We've been hearing that Lesnar has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Fraser has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lesnar trying to control but Fraser is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Lesnar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fraser's waist but Fraser gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lesnar off to one side.
Fraser throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Lesnar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lesnar.
Fraser throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Fraser tries to clinch but Lesnar moves out of range.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches.
Fraser tries for a takedown. No joy.
Fraser has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lesnar after a bit of a struggle.
Lesnar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fraser walks away with a smile on his face. Lesnar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lesnar tries to bum rush Fraser with a series of wild strikes but Fraser uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lesnar is breathing heavily.
Fraser throws a half hearted mid kick.
Fraser throws a shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fraser wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Fraser has had enough of the clinch but Lesnar keeps him there for the moment.
Fraser wants to stall.

Lesnar breaks from the clinch.
Lesnar shoots in and drives through. Fraser sprawls well.
Lesnar checks the leg kick.

Fraser has Lesnar up against the cage in a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lesnar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fraser missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chris Fraser will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Fraser throws a nice looking combination but Lesnar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fraser defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lesnar.
Fraser fails with a takedown attempt.

Lesnar manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fraser on his heels. He'll look to pass Fraser's guard now, I'm sure.

Fraser wriggles free and stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fraser avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lesnar leaves Fraser with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lesnar is looking to counter the offense by Fraser and move into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lesnar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Fraser.

Lesnar darts in and clinches Fraser up against the cage.
Lesnar gets underhooks to prevent Fraser's takedown attempt.

Fraser jumps guard and drags Lesnar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Fraser has an active guard here but Lesnar has managed to pass into half guard.

Lesnar wants to work for an arm triangle but Fraser is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lesnar lands a nice short elbow.

Lesnar decides to return to a standing position.
Fraser darts in trying to clinch

and Lesnar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fraser won't be happy with that.

Lesnar decides to stand back up. Lesnar steps back and let's Fraser get back to his feet.
Fraser swinging wildly here.
Lesnar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fraser darts in looking for a takedown but Lesnar gets double underhooks and turns Fraser into the cage.
Fraser fails to land the takedown.

Fraser takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Lesnar moves out of range of the body kick.
Lesnar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fraser slaps away a takedown attempt from Lesnar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As Lesnar backs off Fraser throws a huge counter combo but Lesnar manages to avoid it all.
Lesnar tries to clinch but Fraser moves out of range.
Fraser fails with the takedown.

Fraser closes the distance and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar keeps control of Fraser as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Lesnar manages to break the clinch.
Lesnar slaps away a takedown attempt from Fraser, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Brock Lesnar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fraser misses with a takedown attempt - Lesnar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lesnar shoots for a takedown but Fraser saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fraser checks a leg kick.

Lesnar shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Fraser has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lesnar is on him like a limpet, forcing Fraser back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brock Lesnar will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lesnar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fraser closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lesnar circles away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Fraser or perhaps it was just good defense by Lesnar, which made it look bad.

and Fraser counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Fraser tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lesnar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Fraser tries for a takedown but Lesnar manages to get underhooks.
Fraser tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Lesnar successfully pulls guard.
Fraser passes Lesnar's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fraser throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Fraser perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lesnar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fraser is working away from the top position though.

Fraser missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Fraser trying to control the action but Lesnar is working from the bottom.
Fraser might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lesnar haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Fraser not doing much here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fraser is trying to control. Lesnar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Fraser tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fraser lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Fraser dives in for a single leg takedown but Lesnar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lesnar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lesnar is defended easily by Fraser.

Lesnar drives through and clinches with Fraser against the cage.

Stalling in the clinch from Fraser.
Fraser is looking to break free of the clinch but Lesnar has double underhooks.
Lesnar is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fraser is defending well.

Lesnar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fraser is looking to clinch.

Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fraser looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fraser throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fraser tries for a takedown but Lesnar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Fraser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fraser has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
