Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Jager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Motts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Jager!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jager throws a low kick but Motts avoids it.
Motts replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Jager blocks it well.
Jager misses with a takedown attempt - Motts sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Motts steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Jager.
Jager blocks a jab.
Motts avoids the body shot from Jager.
Jager goes for a double leg but Motts avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Motts continues to drive forward.
Jager swings for the body but Motts moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jager manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Motts manages to get himself to full guard.

Jager on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jager tries to get out of the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Motts cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Jager sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Motts is looking for a kimura but Jager is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Motts to get the leverage.
Motts uses his free foot to push down on Jager's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jager.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Motts blocks Jager's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Motts has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jager's face.
Jager is in a horrible position here. Motts smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The referee warns Jager that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jager is desperately trying to improve his position but Motts has a good base and remains in mount.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Motts tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jager sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Motts somewhat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jager shoots in for a double leg but Motts sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Jager escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jager is looking to wear down Motts with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Motts swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Motts avoids the body shot from Jager.
Motts let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

and Motts holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Thomas Jager has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Motts.

Mark Motts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Motts rushes Jager and presses him up against the cage.
Jager jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Motts walks away with a smile on his face. Jager gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jager uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Motts.
Motts uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jager.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jager swings for the body but Motts moves out of range.
A jab from Motts misses.
Jager displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Motts.

Motts throws out a leg kick but Jager moves out of range and Motts only half commits.
Motts throws a hook to the side of Jager's head but Jager sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Jager counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
