PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bud Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asmir Dragovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bud Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Asmir Dragovic!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragovic takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Dragovic scores with a shot to the body.

Dragovic dives in and scores a takedown into Barker's guard.
Barker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dragovic looking to pass the guard.

Dragovic stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Dragovic instigates a clinch.
Dragovic misses with a body punch.
Dragovic manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Barker manages to pull guard.

Dragovic trying to control the position from guard on top but Barker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Barker has his foot on Dragovic's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dragovic works his way back into a safe position though.
Dragovic throws an elbow that misses. Barker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dragovic's guard. Nice move by Barker!

Dragovic is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Barker gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dragovic instigates a clinch.

Dragovic pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Barker gets tackled into the cage by Dragovic. Dragovic maintains the clinch.
Barker is trying to pull guard but Dragovic turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Dragovic scores with a hook to the body.
Barker is breathing heavily.
Barker jumps guard but Dragovic turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Barker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Barker fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bud Barker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dragovic has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Barker is trying to keep an underhook but Dragovic manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Dragovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dragovic looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Barker!

Dragovic decides to stand back up. Dragovic steps back and let's Barker get back to his feet.
Bud Barker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Dragovic works the jab nicely.
Dragovic throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Barker gets tackled into the cage by Dragovic. Dragovic maintains the clinch.

Dragovic's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dragovic fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Barker to the ground. Dragovic is now in Barker's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dragovic stays in close to Barker's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragovic digs a good body shot into Barker's ribs.

Barker gets tackled into the cage by Dragovic. Dragovic maintains the clinch.

Dragovic rushes Barker and presses him up against the cage.

Dragovic seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Barker has recovered full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dragovic stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Dragovic is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Barker's half guard.

Barker has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dragovic is on him like a limpet, forcing Barker back against the cage.

Dragovic breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Asmir Dragovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barker fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dragovic decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Barker trying to hold on to Dragovic's head to control him but Dragovic postures up.

Dragovic decides to return to a standing position.
A head kick misses from Dragovic.

Dragovic fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barker sprawls well initially but Dragovic persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Barker tries to kick Dragovic off but Dragovic keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Dragovic is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dragovic looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Barker has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dragovic is on him like a limpet, forcing Barker back against the cage.

Dragovic works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dragovic would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Barker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dragovic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Barker keeping moving, preventing Dragovic from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Asmir Dragovic will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Dragovic decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Dragovic lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dragovic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barker avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dragovic lands a head kick!

Dragovic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Barker looks to clinch
and Dragovic counters with a straight that turns Barker's legs to rubber! Dragovic pushes forward with more strikes and Barker goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
