Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 wins, 7 losses and 1 draws, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 wins, 4 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Pera!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Pera throws a series of punches but Hunt avoids them all with ease.
Hunt throws a body punch but Pera moves out of range.
Hunt lands a head shot.
Pera fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hunt has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Hunt lands a leg kick that knocks Pera off balance momentarily.
Pera misses with a hook to the body
letting Hunt counter with a right hand.
Pera fails with the takedown
and Pera takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hunt checks the leg kick nicely there.
Pera checks a low kick from Hunt.
Pera with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hunt to score with a decent uppercut.
Hunt connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

It looks like Pekka Pera has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A swing and a miss from Hunt.
Pera bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hunt throws a poor cross that misses
and Pera counters with a nice leg kick.

and Pera counters with a single leg into guard. Hunt didn't expect that.
Pera throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pera postures up in Hunt's guard and throws a big left but Hunt blocks it.
Hunt has his hands on Pera's head, controlling the position.

Hunt has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pera is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hunt.
Pera lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hunt down.
Hunt is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Helsinki Private Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Pera lands an elbow.
Hunt managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Pera.
Hunt wants to control but Pera postures up.
A control attempt from Hunt but he's now mounted!

Pera lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hunt takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Pera lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hunt bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Pera keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully.
Pera is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hunt passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pera wants to improve his position but Hunt is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hunt is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pera defends it well.
Hunt wants to free his trapped foot but Pera is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pera is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Pera wants to get back to full guard.
Hunt controlling the pace.
Pera wants to control but Hunt is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pekka Pera will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Pekka Pera's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pera walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hunt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hunt is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Pera throws a wild body kick that Hunt sees coming a mile off.
Pera takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Pera moves out of range of the strikes.
Hunt throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pera swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Pera looks to land a left hand but Hunt moved out of range nicely.
Pera tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hunt feinted with a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pera.
Hunt throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Hunt with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hunt swats away the attempt to clinch by Pera.

Pera with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hunt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pera.
Nice uppercut lands for Hunt. That snapped Pera's head back.
Hunt throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Pera counters with a right hand to the body.
Pera blocks the body kick.
Pera's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hunt under the eye.
Hunt throws out a powerful jab.
Pera misses with an uppercut.
A little feinted left hand from Hunt on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Pera fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hunt manages to avoid it.
Hunt scores with a decent looking hook.
Hunt with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nice takedown defense from Hunt. No joy for Pera on that attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pera uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hunt.
Hunt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Pera counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pera.
Pera wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position.

Hunt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pera content to stall in guard here.

Hunt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Pera scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Pera wants to control from the top but Hunt keeps moving.

Hunt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pera throws a big elbow that misses.

Hunt has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Pera doesn't defend quickly enough and Hunt has managed to lock this one up! Can Pera escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hunt on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Paul Hunt!
