PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Abbot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tony Abbot will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Abbot!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Abbot misses.
Abbot slips a jab from Moore.
Moore wants to clinch
letting Abbot counter with a right hand.
Moore stuffs the takedown.
Moore slips a straight right by Abbot.
A telegraphed right hand from Abbot misses the target.
Moore throws a hook to the side of Abbot's head but Abbot sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Moore has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Moore there as he acknowledges the shot.
Moore tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abbot paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Abbot counters with a nice uppercut.
Moore takes a swing at Abbot's ribcage but misses.
A jab from Moore does it's job there.

Moore shoots in and bounces Abbot off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Moore preventing the sweep.
Moore is working Abbot over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Moore controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Moore looking to sit in guard and control but Abbot gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Abbot thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Abbot trying to control the position from guard on top but Moore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moore wants to sweep here but Abbot controlling him for the moment.
Moore not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Moore keeping moving, preventing Abbot from controlling successfully.

Moore trying to keep a closed guard but Abbot is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moore has closed the distance and engaged Abbot in a clinch.
Abbot tries a body shot but Moore blocks it.
Moore goes for a takedown attempt but Abbot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Moore is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Moore defending well as Abbot loads up on a big left hand.
Moore is looking to counter punch.
Abbot throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Moore gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Abbot gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Moore.
Abbot tries for a takedown. No joy.

Moore just leaning against Abbot, taking a breather.
Moore dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Moore seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Abbot blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Moore goes for a takedown attempt but Abbot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Moore. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moore misses with a few strikes there.
Moore is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Abbot.

and Moore counters by moving into the clinch.
Moore fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A frustrated look appears on Abbot's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Moore wants to stall.
Moore tries to throw a body punch but Abbot avoids it by throwing Moore back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Moore dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Abbot swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Moore fails with an attempt to clinch.
Abbot throws out a counter right but Moore avoids it with no problem.

and Abbot counters with a nice body shot.
Moore closes the distance looking to clinch
and Abbot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Moore moves out of range of the strikes.
Moore is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Abbot.

Moore tries to clinch there but Abbot circles away.
Abbot ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Abbot! But no joy.
Abbot is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Moore drops his hands momentarily and Abbot takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Moore jabs Abbot right on the nose. Abbot blinks but takes it well.

and Abbot counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Abbot throws a looping overhand right but Moore ducks down to avoid it.
Abbot misses with a wild body shot.
Abbot lands a jab.
Nice straight punches there by Moore. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Moore.
Abbot smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Moore throws an off balance right hand
and Abbot cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Moore misses with a hook to the body
letting Abbot counter with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Moore tries to clinch
and Abbot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore moves to clinch but Abbot breaks away
and Abbot counters with a crisp right that sends Moore to the canvas! Abbot follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Abbot!
Tony Abbot tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
