PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Welder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Great White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Welder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Great White!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ben Hemmingworth and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welder manages to get an easy takedown there - catching White on his heels. He'll look to pass White's guard now, I'm sure.
Welder showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Welder controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Welder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if White can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Welder closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Welder pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

White moves into range and clinches up with Welder.

White lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
White digs a right hand underneath Welder's ribcage. Welder let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A quick uppercut on the inside from White.
White throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
White works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Still in the clinch, White scores with a nice short uppercut.

White is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Welder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. White is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Welder is rocked!

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oh Welder is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

White closes the distance and pushes Welder back into the cage.
White manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Welder seems to have got his legs back now.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as White takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The crowd are getting on White's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
