The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jason throws an overhand right that lands on Evangelista's shoulder, as Evangelista tries to avoid the shot.
Evangelista is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Evangelista tries to keep at a distance but Jason has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jason goes for a takedown in the clinch but Evangelista prevents it.

Jason breaks from the clinch.
Jason misses with a looping left.
Evangelista is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jason pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evangelista uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jason.
Jason's jab looks to have found its range, popping Evangelista under the eye.
Jason fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And Evangelista tries to counter it with a takedown but Jason pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Jason rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Evangelista moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Evangelista tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Jason misses with an uppercut

and Evangelista counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jason won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evangelista advances to full mount.

Jason tries to improve his position but Evangelista has taken his back! Evangelista has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Jason tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Evangelista pushes Jason away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
